Big-ass Netflix animation news drop yesterday, ahead of Annecy and the release of ULTRAMAN RISING... Netflix is on a lot of shit-lists for a variety of things, including their careless race towards making more animated features but expecting them to be cranked out like it's a factory process or something... But I will say, the feature line-up they revealed yesterday sounds like banger-central. Too bad most of them likely won't see a physical media release, though.
WALLACE & GROMIT feature #2, VENGEANCE MOST FOWL... Coming later this year, featuring Feathers McGraw from THE WRONG TROUSERS... The hype is real.
The last half of 2024 will also be when Netflix debuts Skydance Animation's SPELLBOUND, that long-gestating fantasy picture from SHREK director Vicky Jenson with new Alan Menken-Glen Slater songs... I guess LUCK nuked whatever partnership Skydance, John Lasseter's current studio, had with Apple, although their new show WONDLA is debuting on that platform.
Skydance looks to follow up SPELLBOUND with TANGLED director Nathan Greno's POOKOO, another fantasy tale with otherworldy critters. Only a matter of time when we find out RAY GUNN, Brad Bird's retrofuturistic sci-fi noir whose development history dates aaaaall the way back to the mid-'90s, comes out.
Also curiously, prior to these announcements, Disney Animation director Don Hall (WINNIE THE POOH, BIG HERO 6, RAYA AND THE LAST DRAGON, and STRANGE WORLD) has joined the ranks at Skydance. Another director who worked under Lasseter at either WDAS or Pixar, now working for him again. I'm guessing he didn't particularly enjoy directing his last two features at WDAS under Jennifer Lee's stewardship, thus - much like Nathan Greno and Rich Moore - went back to his old pervy boss. Skydance Animation undeniably has a lot of top talent there, and directors of past animation blockbusters, but it really just sucks that it's run by Lasseter. And apparently he's running it just like he did with Pixar and WDAS, just as toxic. He micromanages projects once more and buckles directors under his mandates, like Alessandro Carloni, who was supposed to direct LUCK... But these guys are his favorites, so I presume they'll do fine over there.
Next year sees the release of IN YOUR DREAMS, from directors Alex Woo and Erik Benson. Two total opposite brothers who go to dreamland and try to convince the Sandman to save their parents' failing marriage, sounds promising. We already knew about THE TWITS, and also THE IMAGINARY, which debuts in a few weeks. Three imaginary friends movies in one year, coincidentally the year FOSTER'S HOME FOR IMAGINARY FRIENDS turns 20... I refuse to process that. I was so big on FOSTER'S back in the day, when I was 12 years old. Speaking of TV cartoons and adaptations of those, THE PLANKTON MOVIE is also on the boards for 2025, continuing the Netflix SpongeBob movie series running alongside the theatrical ones.
I'm also very happy to see that Sony Animation's wild-sounding K-POP: DEMON HUNTERS, from directors Maggie Kang and Chris Appelhans, is underway and will be debuting sometime next year. Sony Animation also revealed a new HOTEL, I mean... MOTEL TRANSYLVANIA series, and are still at work on the GHOSTBUSTERS animated series as well. Since this was all for Netflix-only projects, not a peep on the GHOSTBUSTERS animated movie that's also on the rails. I wish DEMON HUNTERS was heading to theaters, though, that's such a bonkers-looking film that would work great like that. Much like their MITCHELLS VS. THE MACHINES, but that got re-routed because of COVID, so I get that.
Curiously, no word on THE SHRINKING OF TREEHORN, a book adaptation from director Ron Howard. First thought to be a 2023 release, Netflix picked up the picture in 2022 and didn't set a date... Maybe it's gone the way of EMBER and other canned Netflix animated movies? Or a new date will be inked eventually? If it's aiming for 2026, then that'll explain the absence.
I'll keep my eyes on these as they get closer, but my top picks are VENGEANCE MOST FOWL and K-POP: DEMON HUNTERS.

Brad Pitt at Rolex 24 to film scenes for Formula One movie
Tumblr media
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla
Of course Brad Pitt is at the Rolex 24 at Daytona, the most prestigious endurance race in the United States.
The actor is not at Daytona International Speedway as a fan though. He's actually on track filming scenes for his yet-to-be-titled Formula One movie, and the storyline contains an arc in which Pitt, an aging driver, has returned to sports car racing.
Tumblr media
His presence has been a bit of a headache to many of the other drivers in the field, mainly because of the heavy security at the driver motorhome lot, where Pitt has a spot for his downtime during filming. IndyCar driver Scott McLaughlin complained he was denied access to his motorhome because he wasn't carrying his credential for entry — an unusual rejection for an athlete clearly in uniform coming directly from the racecar.
NASCAR driver Bubba Wallace, a regular in the Daytona infield lot, said he's been bumped to an overflow lot, same for many of the top drivers in the race. Among them? Former F1 champion Jenson Button and IndyCar driver Colton Herta, who wondered if he should ask Pitt for advice on how to make it into F1.
Tumblr media
They've all complained that the filming scenes have kept them awake at night as shooting begins long after the track has been cleared of the actual Rolex 24 practices. A filming session requires at least six cars on track at a time.
Among them are three identically prepared Porsche 911 GT3's painted as the actual movie car. The cars are also identical to the Wright Motorsports entry that are actually racing in the twice-round-the-clock event that began Saturday.
Tumblr media
The other cars on track are a Mercedes and a BMW that have been described as “non-descript cars looking like they are racing,” as well as a 1999 Lola V8 that is the official “camera vehicle” and rumbles loud enough to sound like a stock car and keep the drivers awake.
Herta and Button both complained the filming has woken them up this week. Button had a practical view about the disruptions.
Tumblr media
“This race is going to be super cool and the lack of sleep is the only issue, but I'm in the cheap seats,” Button said. “I think we're doing OK. We've got a big race coming up and Brad Pitt is playing a part in the event.”
Jerry Bruckheimer, who also produced “Days of Thunder,” is producing this F1 movie. Seven-time champion Lewis Hamilton is both a producer and technical adviser, and the director is Joseph Kosinski, who directed “Top Gun: Maverick.”
It is due for release in summer 2025.

welcome to my blog, it is terrible! this is a very detailed about me which is too long to pin because i talk too much x
Tumblr media Tumblr media
general
new adult and i want to go back. i use he/they/she pronouns and my gender can be likened to the properties of gallium. don't ask because i'm not sure either. also bisexual as fuck! born and raised welsh raaahhh but my parents are bangladeshi so. banglawelshi x
Tumblr media
motorsports
formula one
just to preface, i don't currently hate any driver on the grid right now but not the biggest fan of pierre gasly and nico hulkenberg and on the fence about charles leclerc (you won't see hate though, don't worry). my current drivers are: max verstappen, lewis hamilton, daniel ricciardo, oscar piastri, fernando alonso, valtteri bottas and kevin magnussen. teams are a little more complicated but i basically root for alphatauri, alfa romeo and red bull racing. in terms of ex-f1 drivers/retirees i love jenson button, sebastian vettel, antonio giovinazzi, and nyck de vries.
nascar
its funny how the world works because if you'd have told me last year i'd be a full nascar blog i'd probably laugh in your face but alas, here we are. as if it wasn't obvious enough, my favourite driver is ryan blaney! i like him. a lot. i also root for chase elliott, bubba wallace, brad keselowski, austin cindric, john hunter nemechek, martin truex jr., joey logano and chris buescher, but ignoring kyle larson and noah gragson, i'm okay with most of the drivers. in a (parasocial) love-hate relationship with denny hamlin. of course i'm a hardcore team penske fan but i'm also partial to rfk and 23xi on occasion. huge on jimmie johnson, dale earnhardt jr., kevin harvick, jeff gordon, and kasey kahne too but of course they aren't on the grid.
indycar
my favourite unserious single seater racing series! its an absolute miracle that i hold no disdain against any of the drivers (bar romain grosjean—its a tad complicated. and also goes without saying. fuck santino ferrucci) of course like i said. i'm a penske boy through and through, but i'm partial to a bit of rll on occasion. josef newgarden, will power and scott mclaughlin are my main guys but i'm also attached to alex rossi, graham rahal, kyle kirkwood, scott dixon, pato o'ward and christian lundgaard like a leech. gargantuan enjoyer of dario franchitti, helio castroneves and simon pagenaud too.
motogp
i don't watch it as much as i'd like to but i do plan on doing so going into the next season. am very basic so fabio quartararo, marco bezzecchi, marc marquez and enea bastianini are my riders. partial to a bit of luca marini and pecco bagnaia too. also i'm literally valentino rossi in real life so like. you can't say shit x
Tumblr media
other sports
plan on expanding this list this year possibly but i'm not sure. we'll see!
football
am a liverpool girlie (gn) through and through so thats who you'll see most of, but i will admit i do follow nottm forest and watch a couple games here and there (as a guilty pleasure okay?! they are fun to watch). i've also managed to become extremely attached to a couple players from both teams. said players being mo salah, andy robertson, darwin nunez, dominik szoboszlai, alisson becker, neco williams, jesse lingard, brennan johnson. also being welsh, i support the welsh national team until they're booted from the competition in which case i'll support the netherlands. england is my last resort x
Tumblr media
miscellaneous
am a very random blog so don't except any consistency in anything whatsoever. i also reblog a lot of animal content and expect chicken content! i have 6 hens all of which i love very much. and just in general! expect a lot of random things on this blog! i am a very all-over-the-place person!
cars
come and talk to me about road cars i beg i love talking about them so much it's the reason i got into motorsports in the first place. don't be surprised if i come into your inbox and ask about your fave road cars
tv shows
not the biggest tv show watcher if i'm being honest, had a brief moment with criminal minds but i only got up to season 5. lord knows when i'll pick it up again. huge top gear fan but unfortunately i have beef with jeremy clarkson so i like flop gear. am also currently watching it's always sunny in philadelphia so we'll see where that leads me. also i have yet to watch a full episode of drive to survive. STREAM NASCAR: full speed ON NETFLIX NOW
movies
again, not the biggest movie watcher but obviously am huge on cars and turbo. also big on talladega nights and then my personal favourite film of all time is brokeback mountain so expect an occasional ennis del mar or jack twist on your dash every now and again.
music
am a big oasis enjoyer and gang of youths superfan (0.001% top listener in 2023 💪💪) as well as huge on sam fender and uhh. central cee. also an abel tesfaye girlie i won't lie. um also lord huron and noah kahan and hozier. but my aforementioned nascar hyperfixation has led me into the beautiful world of country. if you dunk on it fuck you and god bless tyler childers
my art/gifs
i draw and gif things once every millennia believe it or not! i don't tag them so keep an eye out for those lol.
Tumblr media
blogkeeping
urls
previously i've been gigglejuice27, gaygglejuice27, horsey-mchorse, kmag-pole and sunshine-5eb. i return to them on occasion.
tagging
i don't tag for shit but if you need something tagged just shoot a message or an ask and we'll get it sorted asap. actually #kdz.lb is liveblogging.
do not interact
gasly superfans, max antis and jos verstappen apologists and larson/gragson enjoyers this probably isn't the blog for you.
if you are a racist, homophobe, terf, islamophobe or a zionist. you will be getting blocked instantly x
asks
ask away! my inbox is always open for anything. theres no promise i'll answer but i will try my best. hate will get deleted though.
dms
feel free to dm me about anything! would love to make more friends. bear in mind i can't keep a convo for shit and i have a very bad habit of ghosting though i'm so sorry
sideblogs
i have a shittonne of sides for saving urls, but other than that we've got @neco-williams, @stonersportz and @austin2cindric for the shiggles

omg please elaborate on your scott pilgrim au!! is it charles who has to fight with (seb's?) 7 evil exes? who on the grid is your wallace wells? spoil us more 🗣🗣🗣
I would really like to pretend I know what variety is but yeah it's Charles fighting Seb's 7 evil exes sdkljdsgk Seb seems more suited to the Scott role than the Ramona role ngl but it was way easier to connect the 7 exes to people from Seb's past than from Charles's past and why make things needlessly hard! (I say. trying to translate a very visual story to pure text. 😅) I'll put a bit more about what I've been toying with under the cut.
Wallace was one of the hardest to cast, my god xD But at one point @andreagrimes suggested George and... well. Works well enough. He fits the "voice of reason" vibe well enough and instead of him hooking up with everything that breathes he can take his shirt off and make everyone ogle. Sometimes you gotta work with what you have xD
Instead of the band Sex Bo-Bomb in Toronto our hero and his friends are now in karting team Quadrant in Monaco, where they do simracing and real-life karting. Which gives me the opportunity to still sort of translate the competition element in Scott Pilgrim, too, and get the guys to the necessary places and situations.
And for the evil exes... Still very much open to debate most of them but for now I'm thinking Jenson (#1 Matthew Patel), Daniel (#2 Lucas Lee), Lewis (#3 Todd Ingram), Charlene (#4 Roxy Richter) (yes the Monaco princess btw it seemed funny lol), Kimi & Heikki (#5 & #6 Katayanagi Twins), and finally Mark (#7 Gideon Graves)
Anyway I'm a few thousand words in right now so let's hope this goes somewhere and that the homage works because I love Scott Pilgrim Vs The World so much and I want it to work so bad xD

Teams: Manly's axing after show-stopping game
Tumblr media
The NRL's form player of the year, Tom Trbojevic, is set to make his return for the Sea Eagles after missing round 23 with a facial injury.Last week, Trbojevic was ruled out as a precaution amid conflicting reports the superstar fullback had damaged a pre-existing facial fracture.
Tumblr media
Tom Trbojevic (Getty)While serious injury concerns were put to bed, the Sea Eagles took no chance, resting their talisman who is set to make an emphatic return against the Bulldogs this week.Meanwhile, star teammate Moses Suli has been dropped from Des Hasler's squad despite putting up a stellar man of the match performance last week. Suli has been dropped to reserves, replaced by Brad Parker who slots straight into the centres.
Tumblr media

(Getty)Elsewhere, it's tough luck for the Tigers who have the unfortunate task of taking on the Panthers without standout star Adam Doueihi who has been sidelined with a knee injury. To make matters harder for Michael Maguire's men, star winger Brian To'o has made an early return from injury and will line up on Sunday evening.Meanwhile, the Raiders have dumped halfback Sam Williams after back-to-back critical losses to the Storm and Manly.

Warlock - It’s Complicated
Fun western that again falls into that sub-category of “spineless townspeople”. In this case the unincorporated town of ‘Warlock’ is regularly being bullied by a gang of roughneck cowboys and their back shooting leader. In the opening scenes we see the gang ride into town and call out the latest in a long line of sheriffs, and publicly humiliate him before driving him out of town, while the townspeople cower behind their windows. Among the gang, however is one member who seems disenchanted with the tactics of his fellow cowboys (Richard Widmark) who eventually falls out with them and becomes the town’s new sheriff-deputy. Meanwhile, the town has taken it upon themselves to hire a pair of notorious gunslingers and casino operators to help restore order to the town by ‘whatever means necessary’ (Henry Fonda and Richard Widmark, in an interesting relationship with subtle homosexual undertones - fancy dressers, who share the same room, decorated ‘all fancy’ by Quinn, with a special ‘painting’ that he picked out just for Fonda “if he thought he could handle it”). Throw in Dorothy Malone and Dolores Michaels as love interests for Widmark and Fonda, and things get real complicated in a hurry.
A Fun Western with some great characters and a satisfying ending (or two or three).
(at one time, back in my 16mm collecting days, I had a copy of this film, but for some reason, had never gotten around to watching it, a shame)
Also features a veritable crowd of familiar faces in the background, from Louise Brooks’ co star in ‘Beggars of Life’ Richard Arlen, to Star Trek’s DeForest Kelley, to Batman’s Frank Gorshin to 2001 A Space Oddysey’s Gary Lockwood, Blade Runner’s Joe Turkel and even a tiny part for Peckinpah regular L.Q. Jones.

The all-new Aston Martin Valkyrie hypercar has been declared the Michelin Supercar Paddock Showstopper of the Festival at this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed.
The Michelin Supercar Paddock Showstopper award was presented to Darren Turner, Marek Reichman and the Aston Martin Valkyrie team by judges Jodie Kidd, legendary designer Frank Stephenson, Mr JWW and DriveTribe’s Mike Fernie.  Chosen for its pursuit of function over form, the judges were impressed with the hypercar’s impeccable road-going credentials, as well as its striking aerodynamic design and mind-blowing performance. The Aston Martin Valkyrie made its global dynamic debut at Goodwood Festival of Speed and is the first hypercar the legendary British marque has ever produced. The name of the car intentionally evokes images of an otherworldly power, and its performance lives up to that billing. Featuring a huge 6.5-litre V12 hybrid engine capable of delivering 1160 horsepower in a car which is exceptionally lightweight - its 100% carbon fibre chassis and body weigh just over 1,000 kilograms – helping it achieve better than a 1:1 power to weight ratio. The hypercar takes design and engineering cues from Formula One racing, thanks to collaborative input from Red Bull Racing’s legendary design guru Adrian Newey. The aerodynamics around the car were designed to give F1 standard of performance, downforce and handling. Capable of reaching 0-62mph in a blistering 2.5 seconds, the Valkyrie has an astonishing top speed in excess of 250mph. The Glickenhaus 004S and the Rimac Nevera were runners up of the Michelin Supercar Paddock Showstopper Award. Owner Dr. Cecilia Muldoon drove the Glickenhaus SCG 0004S for the first time on the Goodwood Hillclimb and came straight to the Paddock stage to showcase the unique and wonderful supercar. With a supercharged V8 delivering 650bhp, the three-seater with a central driving position and includes some amenities rare in the world of track cars, including air conditioning, Bluetooth speakers and a backup camera. On the Michelin Supercar Paddock Stage James Glickenhaus described the car as “a road car born on the track." Judges were extremely impressed with the car’s bespoke design, both inside and out, coupled with the vehicle’s performance and rarity. They felt it was unique and worthy of being a Showstopper finalist. The judges were also blown away by the outstanding all-electric Rimac Nevera. The Croatian hypercar was a runner up for the award. It produces a staggering 1914 horsepower and can accelerate from 0 to 100 kph in 1.97 seconds, and from 0 to 300 kph in 9.3 seconds. Each of the Nevera’s wheels are driven by their own electric motor, and each wheel’s torque is automatically adjusted for improved handling. Other automotive highlights from the Michelin live stage include, Lotus (Emira), Bugatti (Pur Sport), Ferrari (SF90), Porsche (GT3), Zenvo (TSR-S), Callum Design (Vanquish 25), Ford (Mach-E 1400), Corvette (C8), Mini (ePacesetter), BMW (2 Series), Mission H24 (LMPH2G), Koenigsegg (Regera), Everrati (964), The Little Car Company (Baby Bugatti). Working alongside General Motors for the debut of the all-new RHD Chevrolet Corvette Stingray, Michelin had five-time 24 Hours of Le Mans winner and Corvette Ambassador, Oliver Gavin, on the live stage to reveal the model ahead of its first-ever run up the hill. The Supercar Paddock also saw a number of guest appearances talking to presenters Vicki Butler-Henderson and Tim Harvey, including Jenson Button, Oli Webb, Andy Wallace, James Pickford, Colin Turkington, Paul O’Neill, Darren Turner, Caffeine & Machine’s Phil McGovern and Dan Macken, Charlie Cooper, Richard Westbrook, Paul Swift, Mazin and Nabil Naamo (@TopazDetailing), Zach (@Zachs_Garage) and Raziz (@RokenR). The Mummy’s Tomb (1942)
Tumblr media
Like The Mummy’s Hand before it, The Mummy’s Tomb is not a film that stands out, but is enjoyable nonetheless. At a brisk 61 minutes, you might as well check it out if you’ve seen the first two in the series.
Set thirty years after the events of the previous film, it is revealed that Andoheb (George Zucco) survived his gunshot wounds. In order to get revenge on the Banning Expedition, he sends his follower Mehemet Bey (Turhan Bey) to America with the living mummy Kharis (played by Universal veteran Lon Chaney, Jr. this time around).
I’ve got mixed feelings about this film as a sequel to The Mummy’s Hand. It’s cool to see Stephen Banning (Dick Foran) and Babe (Wallace Ford) again. I also don’t mind the return of Andoheb and Kharis. Without them, there'd be no movie and I can forgive their improbable resurrection. As for Marta, she died off-screen (a letdown). For reasons I can’t understand, the film is set 30 years later (what was Andoheb doing during those three decades?) and some details have been fudged here or there (such as the change of name from Babe Jenson to Babe Hanson). The change of location from dusty old Egypt to the U.S. is interesting, particularly when the mummy shambles by unsuspecting young couples necking on the side of the road. If you like these Universal Monster films with the torch-wielding mobs and the villains who, for reasons that don’t really make sense, want to kidnap women and force them into marriage, there are aspects that’ll please you.
The Mummy’s Tomb is a bonus feature that came with 1932′s The Mummy, and that works in its favor. On its own, this isn’t a strong film. The villains are flat (the mummy is once again devoid of personality and in many ways much worse at killing people than a regular goon armed with a gun). There are a number of dubious actions towards the end. Everyone, particularly Banning’s son John (John Hubbard) and daughter-in-law Isobel (Elyse Knox) are very casual about things, even when there have been multiple murders committed. By and large, it’s not an inspired picture. Still, I found myself enjoying it.
The only people who will seek out The Mummy's Tomb are fans of the Universal Monster movies. If that’s you, it’s HIGHLY unlikely that you will have to shell out any money to view this picture, since all DVD OR Blu-ray releases I've seen have it paired up with at least another film. Under those circumstances, I can give it a mild recommendation. (On DVD, June 24, 2017)
